This road trip takes you from the rolling hills of Limuru to the savannah-esque landscape of the Maasai Mara National Reserve and the white sand of Diani Beach. Although small in size for an African country, Kenya has a diverse terrain: national parks and reserves, snowy mountains, dry deserts and tropical beaches. Nairobi, the capital, is the largest city in the country. The Maasai Mara is known as one of Africa’s finest safari destinations, most famous for its annual wildebeest and zebra migration, which has been called “the greatest wildlife show on earth.” This area has one of the highest densities of carnivores in Africa, as well as a wide range of endangered species. Kenya itself is located on the equator on the eastern coast of Africa, boasting a range of ethnicities and cultural vibrancy.
The first week of this road trip is dedicated to volunteer work. Participants will volunteer at a local school (either a preschool or primary school)assisting with educational and extracurricular activities. Participants will also help by giving the students individual attention, particularly during homework revision. Participants will also assist in the afternoons at a Reading Club.
On Day 4, volunteers will work with community members who have physical challenges, including disabilities and those who have been affected by HIV.
Please take note of this project’s minimum requirements:
There are many optional travel and excursion options that volunteers will be able to arrange once on site for an additional fee.

Please note: These excursions may change according to availability and that entry into the park is not included in the project cost.
