Give back to the Cape Town community by helping the local community members develop skills in health care, general care, sports and business. Play to your strengths and be a mentor for those seeking to expand their skills.
Program Highlights:
Your Schedule at a Glance (Minimum two-week commitment):
Arrival Day, Saturday: Arrive at Cape Town International Airport (CPT). You will be picked up by the local team and taken to your accommodation in the suburbs of Cape Town. After everyone has arrived, there will be a welcome barbecue dinner for all the volunteers (a South African Braai) and free time for sightseeing.
Day 1, Sunday: Continuation of your orientation, which includes tours of the major sights around Cape Town.
Day 2: Monday: Weekly volunteer meeting day – consists of training for new volunteers, administrative tasks and preparation for the program for the rest of the week.
Days 3-5, Tuesday-Friday: Rewarding volunteer work at your choice of placement. As a volunteer, you will be able to contribute your expertise to one of three areas depending on your preference and personal strengths. Volunteers can teach life skills, such as basic wound care, HIV/AIDS awareness, health and nutrition. Volunteers can teach sports development skills. The third option is for volunteers to teach business skills, such as computer skills, craftsmanship, marketing and more.
Days 6-7, Saturday-Sunday: Weekends are free for volunteers to rest or explore Cape Town and its surrounds.
Remaining Weeks: The remaining weeks will follow the schedule of volunteering Monday-Friday, and having weekends free. Departures are on Saturdays.

Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa and is referred to as the ‘The Mother City’ by locals. It has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years and breathtaking scenery, from the iconic Table Mountain to the glorious Cape beaches. It is a modern city with cosmopolitan areas boasting nightclubs and trendy restaurants, as well as rustic and unique suburbs with quirky markets and cafés. With a comfortable Mediterranean climate, Cape Town is great place to volunteer all year round.
Arrival and Orientation in Cape Town (Included):
Prior to your volunteering, you will participate in an orientation in Cape Town. Orientation is on Saturday and Sunday and includes a traditional South African barbecue dinner, called a Braai and a guided tour of the area.
As a volunteer, you will be able to contribute your expertise to 1 of 3 areas depending on your preference and personal strengths. Some of the skills you’ll be able to teach include:

A typical day: After breakfast, you’ll head out to your morning project, which will vary depending on which skill development project you select. After a break for lunch, you may continue mentoring groups or individuals until 3:00 pm. You’ll head back to your accommodations to rest and eat dinner, and can spend your evenings as you wish. Volunteers usually work from Monday-Friday for 6 hours a day. Saturdays and Sundays are free to spend as you wish.
Please note: Because there is a high demand for vocational skills, much of the volunteering involves handyman work. Therefore, volunteers should anticipate a high level of physical activity.
During most holidays, this project will be less structured as parents will be home with their children who are out of school. During Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, projects are very limited, however volunteers may still use the accommodation and food.

Cape Point Tour (Included):
On your second Saturday of your voluneer program, you will take a group tour of Cape Point. En-route to Hout Bay you’ll stop for a tourist must-have – a picture of the “12 Apostles.” Your next stop will be Cape Point Nature Reserve – home to an abundance of flaura and fauna as well as baboons and ostriches to name a few animals found roaming the streets. There are two lighthouses and the most southwestern point of the African continent to be seen here and you will spend some time in the reserve. Simons Town is your lunch stop and also home to the South African Navy and a colony of penguins. Boulders Beach was set up for the penguins to roam free and is your last stop for the day before returning to the accommodation.
